Welcome to Gilda's Club Delaware Valley! There's something for everyone at Gilda's Club!

In 2005 an estimated 72,000 people were diagnosed with cancer. Despite medical advances, the social, emotional and financial toll of cancer remains high and the need in the Delaware Valley is great. Last year 87% of our members reported Gilda's Club as the only place they go for cancer support.

Gilda's Club is the dream of late comedian Gilda Radner. We are one of 26 Clubs across North America. Since our Grand Opening in 2003, our membership and program have flourished and we recently expanded our service area to include the entire Delaware Valley. Today our clubhouse supports over 1,500 men, women and children.

Gilda's Club DelawareValley is 7,000 warm and welcoming square feet dedicated to building social and emotional support. In our homelike clubhouse members share hopes, fears, wisdom and laughter, while learning to live with cancer. Members and volunteers of all ages, cancer types, cultures and socio-economic status come together to meet others with like experiences. Each member's program utilization is structured thoughtfully with the support of licensed mental health professionals and designed to restore a sense of control and well-being. Our "Basic Three Plus" program includes support and networking groups, workshops and lectures, social events and specialized children's activities.

Cancer happens to the entire family. Gilda's Club extends equal membership to anyone with a cancer diagnosis, either their own or that of a loved one. Friends, family and people dealing with a cancer loss who often have difficulty finding support are welcome. Our program is always free of charge and we provide a fundamental resource to many people who could not otherwise access it.

The active contributions of volunteers support our program, maintain our clubhouse and facilitate fundraising events. Cancer survivors, family survivors, health care professionals and anyone with a passion for cancer support are welcome and are the backbone of every Gilda's Club.

Our program is constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our members. New activities are designed around regular feedback. We are currently developing community advisory groups to help us understand and address cancer support for special populations. Another focus involves planning for full family participation. Here, activities are clustered so family members come together and attend activities tailored to their individual needs.

Gilda's Club addresses emotional and social support needs that are vital in the continuum of cancer care. Members are empowered by participation in our program and report decreased loneliness, feeling less fearful and a greater sense of control. Gilda's Club clearly has a positive impact on the lives of people living with cancer.
