|
Gilda's Club Delaware Valley
Noogieland presents
Kid Support!
|
What is it?
Offered
at several Gilda's Clubs throughout North America, Kid Support at Gilda's Club
is a peer support group for children who have a parent, grandparent, other
family member or friend with cancer (either in treatment or post-treatment), or
for children who have cancer themselves.
|
How does it work?
Developed
by Dr. Ann Speltz, educator, breast cancer survivor, parent and author or The Year My Mother Was Bald (Magination
Press, 2003), this 10-week group offers children ages 4-11 an opportunity to
make friends and learn skills to help them when cancer is in their lives.

Noogieland
is a special place for children impacted by cancer - whether it be a child who
has a family member or a friend with cancer, a child who is the survivor of
someone with cancer, or a child who is diagnosed with cancer.
Noogieland
is a separate building adjacent to the main house that offers a supportive
environment. It is filled with toys, art supplies and books for open,
interactive play. There is also customized play and activities coordinated by
Gilda's Club staff and trained volunteers.
In
Noogieland there is:
-
Noogie
Nights: special supervised play hours for children whose parents are
attending member activities.
-
Noogie
Fest: an annual Halloween party for children and their families and friends.
-
Small
Talk: a play group for children touched by cancer facilitated by Gilda's
Club staff.
-
Teen
Time: an opportunity for teens who have been affected by cancer to socialize
and volunteer.
For information about upcoming Noogieland events, please take a look at the Events Calendar.
